Marine Policy

Marine Insurance is designed to protect businesses and individuals involved in shipping and transportation against the financial risks associated with the movement of goods by sea, air, or land. It covers losses or damages to cargo, vessels, and other marine-related risks during transit.

This Insurance Policy compensates the insured party on account of any damages/losses that happen to the cargo/goods whilst in the course of transit.

There are 3 variants:

  • Single Transit Policy/Specific Voyage Policy
  • Marine Open Policy
  • Marine Open Cover

Who needs Marine Insurance ?

Suitable for those requiring protection for cargo, vessels, and marine-related risks.

What is Covered and not Covered

  • ICC (A): All Risk Insurance for various cargoes being transported by sea in break-bulk or containers.
  • ICC (B): A more restricted cover where shortage and rain water damage is not covered.
  • ICC (C): This is a still more restricted cover with the least price where shortage, water damage of any kind, washing overboard, earthquake, lightening, breakage, scratching, infestation, hook and sling damage etc. are not covered.
  • Inland Transit All Risks - This is an All Risk cover for goods transported by any land conveyance such as trucks or trains.
  • Volume & Weight Loss, Liquid Leakage, or Normal Wear & Tear
  • Incorrect Packaging
  • Inherent Nature
  • Delay in Delivery
  • Financial Obligations Default
  • Damages arising because of strikes, riots, or war

Documents required for filing a Marine Claim

  • Original Policy or Certificate of Insurance;
  • Claim bill;
  • Original Bill of Lading or Air Waybill;
  • Copy of Invoice and Packing List or Weight Note;
  • Notice of claim against Carriers, Port Authority, Forwarder and their replies on liability
